Help us update outdated equipment!

The Stevenson-Ives Library and Archives, located in the McLean County Museum of History, serve as an academic and genealogical research center in the heart of Downtown Bloomington.

The library contains about 15,000 volumes of research materials and the archives contain about 1,700 linear feet of historic materials. The library and archives receive more than 1,500 requests each year and the collection continues to grow each and every day through object donations from our community.

Day to day staff are:

  • scanning photos, negatives, and prints to be used for exhibits, educational programs, publications, and research requests;
  • encapsulating fragile letters, posters, architectural drawings, and more to preserve them for generations to come;
  • Binding research materials into new volumes for the library collection;
  • Providing the public with information on academic and genealogical research requests;
  • Empowering volunteers to develop their skills as researchers;
  • and supporting intern development.

The library is a growing, evolving institution that is currently working with outdated equipment. The library and archives staff are in need of new imaging equipment and software, carts to more easily access the collection for research requests, and encapsulation materials.

With your help to raise $6,000 the Museum can purchase the supplies necessary to update the library and archive equipment. Thank you for choosing to be a member with the Museum. Please consider an investment in your library and archives this holiday season. You make a difference. Thank you!
